After-school and holiday STEM workshops
SLAM started life designing and delivering after-school and holiday STEM workshops in the Newcastle area for children aged 10 to 15.
We took the prevailing coding and robotic workshops, and expanded them to include more broadly-based STEM activities such as stomp rockets, MakeyMakey, and flying model aeroplanes.









Whole-of-school professional learning

SLAM has developed and delivered an innovative Next Level Professional Programme that provides dedicated face-to-face and online support to all of a Primary School’s staff over a 12 month period. It provides

25 hours of F2F hours for each lead teacher

12 hours of F2F hours for participant teachers

opportunity for continued online learning
Outdoor STEM day
Supporting the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (NSW) NSW STEM camps for indigenous children in years 5-11.
SLAM organised two outdoor STEM activity days at the Glenrock Scout Camp and Redhead Beach for 60-80 children. They were divided into four groups and cycled through four activities:

Two involving bush science using quadrats, transects and a very new primary education inquiry tool called the Kookaberry

One a demonstration of commercial drones by Uavair
-
One creating 360 degree videos using equipment from the Department's T4L facility at Redfern

Newcastle SMART schools workshops

SLAM has delivered a number of STEM sessions in support of UoN's SMART school workshop holiday programme
Lake Macquarie City Council STEM workshops

SLAM has worked with the Lake Macquarie City Council to deliver a number of STEM programmes in their libraries
